XinYu AI now has a desktop app for Mac and Windows. It uses the same account, the same canvas, and the same models and credits as the web version, plus a few things that only work when the app is installed on your computer. The one-shot film above walks through all of them.
What the app adds
- Local files panel: click Local Files in the canvas sidebar to put a project folder from your computer right next to the canvas. Browse it as a list, as thumbnails or as a masonry grid, and drag assets straight onto the canvas. File names and paths stay on your computer. Only the file you drag onto the canvas is uploaded.
- Downloads go where you choose: clicking download opens a save dialog, starting in the folder you last used for this project, so you don't have to dig through Downloads every time.
- System notifications when a generation finishes: when you've switched to another app, you get a system notification as soon as an image or video finishes or fails. Click it to go back to XinYu.
- Privacy lock: cover the screen with one click and unlock with a 4-digit code. The app also locks when your computer sleeps or locks. On a Mac you can unlock with Touch ID and turn on screenshot protection, so the XinYu window shows up black in screenshots and screen sharing.
- Automatic updates: new versions download in the background and install the next time you quit.
Download
Go to xinyuai.app/download, or click Desktop in the site's top menu.
- Mac: macOS 13 or later, a universal build for Apple silicon and Intel, notarized by Apple.
- Windows: Windows 10 or later (64-bit). You can choose which drive to install to, and no admin rights are needed.
Your work is saved in the cloud, so uninstalling the app doesn't delete anything.
