Automatic updates: the app checks for a new version every time it opens, then every hour (from 0.3.10; previously every 4 hours). New versions download in the background; when ready, “Update ready” appears in the middle of the screen — click “Restart and update” and it takes a few seconds. Generations in progress keep running on our servers. Choose “Later” and it installs the next time you quit.
Check for updates manually (from 0.3.10):
- Mac: the “心宇 AI” menu at the top left → “Check for Updates…”, or click the ∞ icon in the menu bar.
- Windows: press Alt to show the menu bar → “File” → “Check for Updates…”, or right-click the XinYu AI icon in the system tray.
- Settings: click “Desktop 0.3.x · Check now” at the bottom left of the Settings window; the result shows right there.
On an older version? The bottom left of Settings shows your desktop app version. Versions 0.3.9 and earlier don't have “Check for updates” yet: quit the app completely and reopen it (Mac: ⌘Q; Windows: right-click the tray icon → “Quit XinYu AI”). It checks and downloads the new version when it opens; restart when prompted.
Versions 0.3.0 and earlier don't update automatically: you'll see “Please download the new desktop app” at the bottom right — reinstall once from the download page and it will update itself from then on.
